Marisa Suárez-Orozco | CREATIVE DIRECTOR & GRAPHIC DESIGNER

Marisa Suárez-Orozco is a world-builder. With 10+ years of experience across graphic design, brand identity, and immersive creative direction, Mari is the founder and owner of Tropic of Flowers, a design studio based in Los Angeles—and whatever the scale, her throughline is the same: taking an idea and building a complete, cohesive world around it. That's meant designing large-scale environmental graphics across FIFA World Cup 26 stadiums, and developing packaging and brand systems for beauty/lifestyle labels like Earth Tu Face and Rituals Incense. As a queer Latinx woman, Mari builds worlds that expand who gets to belong in them—work recognized by The Knot, which named her an "industry-leading changemaker" for her efforts to diversify and reimagine the event industry.

Trained at the School of Visual Arts and Hampshire College, Mari has a background in graphic design, branding, styling, film, and fine art—a range that shows up in the worlds she's built from the ground up: the design studio and retail space Otherwild, the celebrated queer nightlife events Personal Best & Rumours and the t-shirt design line Closet Case.

Mari's gift is reading the emotional and aesthetic landscape a client wants to create, then building the world that holds it—memorable, cohesive, and visually compelling.

Mari truly has a gift for transforming ordinary things and spaces into beautiful works of art!
